The mission of our group, and how it relates to the issues we seek to address

Our mission is to seek for legal compensation from the Japanese government as a form of redress for the human rights violation of wartime sexual violence and enslavement done on the victims who were then at a young age. This mission relates to the core issue being addressed by our group– the war crime of Japanese military sexual slavery or the “comfort women” system. The “comfort women’s” plea for redress go beyond mere monetary remedies. The call for compensation also aims to repair or restore the victims’ dignity thus, the demand from the Japanese government for a clear and unambiguous apology is an important element, along with the other elements outlined in the concept for the demand for “reparations” for all victims of wartime sexual coercion.
