Letter for the Honored Senators and Members of the Upper House of Japan's Parliament

Dear Honored Senators and Members of the Upper House of Japan's Parliament:

We, organizations of Filipino "comfort women" survivors and other victims of Japanese military sexual violence in World War II, as well as supporters, family, friends and human rights advocates particularly of the Lolas Kampanyera Survivors Organization, the Asian Women Human Rights Council and the Buhay Foundation for Women and the Girl Child warmly welcome the announcement of the successful reintroduction of the draft bill on wartime sexual coercion during thesession of the Upper House of Japan's Diet last June10.

We express our heartfelt greetings of encouragement and congratulations to your continuing efforts to revitalize the issue of an official apology and postwar compensation to the victims of Japanese military sexual slavery and coercion during World War II.

Thank you for giving hope to the cause of realizing the human rights of the victims.

We will continue our own campaign to push our legislative assembly- the Philippine Congress, to bring forward to the plenary session in August 2008, the House Resolution No. 124 urging the government of Japan to apologize and compensate to the sex slave victims of the Philippines and other victimized countries in Asia.

Sincere best wishes and warm regards,
